How-To Get HALO IOT Smart Sensors In Your School
If you’re like many public education professionals, you have noticed the rise in e-cigarette and “vaping” devices by our children, even as early as late elementary ages. Contact us for more information on HALO.
RSI, Inc. is the ONLY reseller in the State of Texas who has the Halo unit on an accepted state cooperative contract as we have added it to our existing TIPS Security Products & Services contract.
According to the CDC, “There is an ongoing outbreak of significant lung illness and death (2,051 reported cases and 39 deaths as of November 5, 2019) due to vaping. Most of these cases (over 80%), but not all, were from users who reported use of THC vaporizer products. On November 8, 2019, the CDC identified vitamin E acetate as a significant concern in the outbreak finding the chemical in all 29 samples it had analyzed from victims.” The CDC also stated, “it is possible that more than one compound or ingredient could be a cause of lung injury, and evidence is not yet sufficient to rule out contribution of other toxicants.” It continues to advise non-smokers to avoid vaping of any variety.
This vaping is a growing concern and certainly should not be something occurring in our schools. However, what is the best way to handle this problem on your school campuses? Education, of course. But first you need detection of this activity so the students using these devices can be identified and then counseled on the health effects. Download HALO Brochure (PDF)
This is where we can help. Our firm, Responsive Services International Corp. (RSI, Inc.) has partnered with IPVideo Corp to offer their multi-award winning and industry leading vaping detection device, the Halo Smart Sensor. With HALO, designated personnel will be alerted when environmental changes occur in typically unsupervised areas. HALO can detect flammables, hazardous chemicals, air quality changes such as vaping and smoking and changes in temperature and humidity. HALO can also detect noise level fluctuations and can send alerts when unusual activity occurs (i.e., possibly bullying). HALO includes a built-in tamper detection alert. With HALO, security staff can now monitor areas where cameras are not allowed. Staff can get these alerts via email or text or both.
